Steve Received his BA from the University of Notre Dame University. While at Notre Dame, he was a member of their 1947 & 1949 National Championship teams not to mention Honorable Mention All-American honors in 49′. He spent twenty-two years as the Athletic Director at Downers Grove North High School. Steve is a charter member of both Illinois Athletic Directors Association and the National Interscholastic Athletic Administration Association. Steve is one of the few Illinois Athletic Directors to receive the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award. This honor was bestowed upon him in 1974. In 1981, Steve was chosen as the Class AA Outstanding Athletic Director of the year. Steve service to the association includes, but not limited to secretary 1965-66, membership 1973-74, program chairman 1975-76, president 1976-77, and exhibits co-chair 1980-81. Steve was very active at the national level. He was a member of the original organizing committee, chairman of the constitutional sub-committee, and chairman of the elections committee. Steve also served as the co-chairman of the coordinating committee for the national conference that was held in Chicago. Upon his retirement he help organize and chaired the retired members division for six years. Since his retirement, Steve has remained active by working numerous track meets in California. He also volunteers his time for various community activities such as special Olympics. Seniors olympics, adaptive leisure activities as well as timing at the local high schools crowd country and track meets.
