Eric Twadell, Superintendent of Adlai E. Stevenson District 125, remembers John, and said “John was a strong voice in support of high expectation for all of our students and did not expect anything less for our student-athletes. We were blessed to have an Athletic Director who saw themselves first and foremost as a teacher.” Briant Kelly, Athletic Director at Libertyville High School, said about John, “His advice and guidance was appreciated and has not been forgotten by me. When I think about Athletic Directors that others should aspire to be like…John Martin is one of them.”
John’s extensive knowledge of high school athletics and his dedication the IADA are a few of the many reasons that led John to this selection as a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame.
