Marty Bee

Marty Bee has been a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association for the past 22 years, beginning in 1994.  Throughout those 22 years, Marty has served the IADA in number of capacities, including 8 years on the IADA Hall of Fame Committee and serving on the Executive Board as the Hall of Fame Chair for 2 years. Marty served on the NIAAA Awards Committee for 2 years.  He has also presented at the IADA state Conference as well as the NIAAA National Conference.

Previous to his years in athletic administration, Marty taught and coached cross country and track at Naperville North.  In 1993, Marty was the Head Coach of the State Champion Girls Cross Country team and was named by the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association as their coach of the year.  From 1994-1996, he was the Assistant Athletic Administrator for Naperville North High School, from 1996 to 2012 he was the Athletic Administrator for Naperville Central High School.  He has served the IHSA in a number of capacities; Athletes’ with Disabilities Committee, Legislative Commission, Cross Country Advisory Committee, Academic All-State Selection Committee, and Girls Soccer State Tournament Manager and Host.

Barry Baldwin, Naperville Central Golf Coach, remembers the support Marty offered to his staff, and said “Marty went above the job description of athletic director.  It was never about wins and losses but more about the kids and coaches and putting them in a position to reach their full potential that motivated Marty”.

Marty’s extensive knowledge of high school athletics and his dedication the IADA are a few of the many reasons that led Marty to this selection as a member of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame.
